F orum members may choose an avatar, either from one of the standard lists (actors and musicians) or by uploading an image of your choice. I would like to recommend an avatar that represents a character from one of Dickens's stories. The gallery below contains several images of Dickens story characters from Film. Right click on the avatar(s) and select "Save Target As..." or "Save Picture As..." to save them to your hard drive. You can then upload them from your profile page in the Forum.

I've only included avatars from adaptations that I've seen and thought worthy of Dickens. Accordingly, many of these images are taken from the excellent 1994 adaptation of Martin Chuzzlewit, perhaps the best adaptation of a Dickens novel ever made, certainly the best I've seen. The others are from two decent (1988 and 2008) adaptations of Little Dorrit and the 1951 (Alastair Sim) version of A Christmas Carol. There are and will be no avatars from the unfortunate adaptations of A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations,and David Copperfield. I have not seen the Hard Times adaptation, but will get to it when I can, and I am in the process of watching an adaptation of Our Mutual Friend, which is somewhat promising so far. I'm reading Bleak House now, and will get to its adaptations when I'm finished - probably mid October. I'll add more from the Christmas stories as the Holidays approach.
